Personal BioBorn and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, I come from a family of teachers. I spent the developing years of my life playing sports, and participating in all sorts of clubs and school activities. From swimming, to volleyball, basketball, track and field, to snowboarding, volunteering, and student council, I was always involved in some way, shape, or form.
After graduating from St. Francis Xavier University, I went on the receive my Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa. It was there that I met my now husband, Bryan Parnell. After graduation, we packed our bags and headed overseas - we knew a life on the road would be our home away from home, and we have been gone ever since. We spent four years teaching in South Korea, most recently at Korea International School. My goals as an educator exceed far beyond the classroom. Driven by international connectedness and global citizenship, I use inquiry-based approach to guide my students to seek beyond their own community for learning and understanding. In both living and learning, I believe, "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." - Marcel Proust |
